Peppered Strawberries

  1. Remove hulls from strawberries; wash berries under cool water.
  2. In a skillet melt butter.
  3. Add sugar and stir constantly until it's caramel in color.
  4. Add orange juice and strawberries, simmering for a few minutes.
  5. Add the cognac or brandy, and allow the alcohol to cook off.
  6. Add pepper.
  7. To serve, place a scoop of ice cream in a bowl, and spoon berries on top.
