Quick Mango Gratins

  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. Brush some of butter over 2 broiler-proof plates.
  3. Peel mango.
  4. Cut small slice off stem end.
  5. Stand mango on cut end.
  6. Starting at top, just off center, cut 1 side of mango off pit.
  7. Repeat on opposite side.
  8. Cut each mango half lengthwise into 1/4-inch-thick slices (do not separate slices).
  9. Using spatula, transfer 1 half to each prepared plate.
  10. Press gently on mango to fan slightly.
  11. Sprinkle with lime juice.
  12. Mix sugar and ginger; sprinkle over mango.
  13. Drizzle with remaining butter.
  14. Broil mango until topping is golden and bubbling, about 2 minutes.
  15. Sprinkle coconut over mango.
  16. Broil until coconut is toasted, about 45 seconds.
  17. Serve hot.
