Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

  1. Heat oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Beat margarine and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Stir in cornmeal and flour.
  4. Add almonds.
  5. Press evenly onto bottom of an ungreased 9x9-inch baking pan.
  6. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are light golden brown.
  7. Cool about 10 minutes; spread with peanut butter.
  8. Melt chocolate chips and shortening over low heat, or in microwave.
  9. Drizzle over peanut butter.
  10. Cut into bars.
  11. Makes 1 dozen.
