Cocktail Biscuits

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  2. Cut in 1 1/2 cups butter and shortening with pastry blender until mixture looks like corn meal.
  3. Add milk stirring until mixture forms a dough.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap.
  5. Chill 8 hours.
  6. Put remaining 1/4 cup cup butter in a large skillet.
  7. Cook over medium heat until butter melts.
  8. Saute mushrooms and shallots in butter until tender.
  9. Add ham, onions, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper.
  10. Cook 4 minutes.
  11. Combine dough and mushroom mixture, kneading until well blended.
  12. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and put on greased baking sheets.
  13. Press thumb into each biscuit.
  14. Bake 12 to 14 minutes at 450 degrees or untill brown.
  15. Let cool and spread 1 teaspoon Herb cream cheese onto each indention.
