Grandma's Spaghetti Sauce Recipe
- 1 lg. can whole tomatoes
- 2 lg. tomato sauce
- 1 lg. tomato paste
- 1 sm. can mushrooms
- Extra virgin olive oil
- 1 lg. onion, minced
- 2-3 stalks celery
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- Water to thin, if necessary
- 1 teaspoon sweet basil
- 1 teaspoon garlic pwdr
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon thyme, oregano flakes and rosemary
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- In large pan, saute/fry onion in extra virgin olive oil till tender, not brown.
- Add in celery, saute/fry till tender.
- Add in cut-up tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste.
- Add in spices, adjust to taste as necessary.
- Let cook 2-3 hrs on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add in mushrooms before serving.
- Great for freezing for future meals.
