For Your Bento! Sweet and Sour Fishcake Sticks and Eggplant

  1. Cut the chikuwa into about 6 pieces.
  2. Chop the eggplant into similar sized pieces.
  3. Add oil to a small pot, lightly saute, then add sugar, soy sauce, and water, and continue sauteing until the water content is completely reduced.
  4. Too much water will evaporate over high heat, so heat over medium heat.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds and it's ready to serve.
  6. Sprinkle ichimi or shichimi spice to taste.
