Apple Chocolate Fudge Cake With Apple Fluff Frosting Recipe
- 3 sqr unsweetened chocolate
- 1 1/4 c. Lowfat milk - divided
- 1 1/2 c. Sugar - divided
- 1 c. Canned apple sauce
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 2 c. Flour
- 1 tsp Soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 c. Shortening
- 3 x Large eggs
- 2 pkt Dream Whip
- 1/2 c. Cool lowfat milk
- 1/2 c. Cool canned applesauce
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla
- Mix chocolate, 1/2 c. lowfat milk and 1/2 c. sugar in saucepan; cook and stir till thick and smooth.
- Stir in apple sauce and vanilla, cold.
- Combine and sift dry ingredients.
- Cream shortening with remaining 1 c. sugar; blend in Large eggs one at a time.
- Alternately add in dry ingredients and remaining 3/4 c. lowfat milk to creamed mixure.
- blending well after each addition.
- Blend in chocolate mix.
- Turn batter into 2 greased and floured 8" layer pans.
- Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.

- Split each cooled layer to make 4 layers.
- Apple Fluff Frosting: Beat topping mix with lowfat milk.
- When mix begins to stiffen and form peaks, add in applesauce and vanilla.
- Beat till hard sufficient to spread.
- Makes about 3 c..
- Apple Cream Frosting:Beat together 1 large pkg (8 ounce) cream cheese, 4 c. 10X sugar and 1 Tbs.
- grated lemon rind.
- When mix is fluffy, stir in 2 to 3 Tbs.
- canned applesauce; chill.
- Spread between and on top layers
