Pear Crisp
- 14 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar or 14 cup light brown sugar
- 14 cup crystallized ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 14 teaspoon nutmeg
- 14 cup all-purpose flour
- 5 cups peeled and cored sliced pears
- 13 cup all-purpose flour
- 14 cup sugar
- 34 cup ground walnuts
- 6 tablespoons salted butter, chilled
- Preheat oven to 375; grease a 9-inch square pan or 9-inch deep dish glass pie plate.
- Pear Mixture: in a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, ginger, lemon juice, nutmeg, and flour.
- Add in the pears and toss them gently in the mixture.
- Spoon the pear mixture into the prepared pan and set aside.
- Crumb Topping: in a small bowl, combine the flour, sugar, walnuts, and butter; blend until mixture is crumbly.
- Top fruit evenly with the crumb mixture; place the pan on a cookie sheet to catch any drippings.
- Bake for 1 hour or until the crumb topping starts to brown and the fruit is bubbly.
