Holiday Spiced Prunes Recipe
- 1 (1 lb.) box prunes, dry
- 1/2 c. liquid from boiling prunes
- 3/4 c. white sugar
- 1/2 heaping teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 scant teaspoon cloves
- 1/8 scant teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 c. coarsely minced walnuts
- Cook prunes per instructions on box, till tender.
- Cold and remove pits.
- Combine sugar, liquid and spices.
- Cook on low heat till syrupy, maybe 10-15 min.
- Pour over prunes and mix lightly, being careful not to further mash prunes.
- Chill covered.
- Add in nuts about 1 hour before serving.
- Can be made several days ahead.
