Grilled Zahtar Bread with Tomatoes
- 4 large slices coarse peasant bread
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 teaspoons zahtar (see Note)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Crushed red pepper
- Diced beefsteak tomatoes
- Light a grill.
- Generously brush the bread with olive oil and sprinkle each slice with 1 teaspoon of the zahtar.
- Season with salt, black pepper and crushed red pepper.
- Grill the bread over a medium-hot fire, turning once, until nicely browned and crisp, 1 to 2 minutes per side.
- Top with diced tomatoes and serve.
