Stuffed Cabbage Leaves(Golabk)
- 1 medium head cabbage
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 c. finely chopped onions
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 c. cooked brown rice or 1 c. Minute rice, uncooked
- 1 large egg
- 1 small can tomato sauce
- 2 Tbsp. fresh or frozen chopped dill or 1/2 tsp. dried dill weed
- Boil whole head of cabbage for about 5 to 10 minutes until leaves are a little limp.
- Remove and cool.
- Cut or pull off leaves and chop up remaining cabbage and set aside.
- Try to keep each leaf in one piece.
- Mix ingredients well and place small amount into each leaf and roll up securely.
- Set aside until all are wrapped.
- Place rest of cabbage in kettle and put cabbage rolls on top.
- Add 1 quart tomatoes and 1/2 cup water.
- Boil on stove about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Also can be baked at 350u0b0 for about 1 hour.
