Asian Green Beans
- 1 12-2 lbs green beans (cleaned & stems removed)
- 5 pieces pre- cooked bacon (cut into small strips)
- 12 large white onion (cut into "half-rings", size comparable to the green beans)
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 12 cup chopped unsalted cashews (optional) or 12 cup peanuts (optional)
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 14 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sriracha chili sauce (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon chopped cilantro
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh ginger
- 12 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
- squeeze honey
- Mix all ingedients for sauce in a bowl and set off to the side.
- You will need 1 large pot to blanch green beans, 1 large "stir-fry" pan, and 1 strainer.
- Bring water to boil in large pot (add a tablespoon of salt and juice of 1 lemon to pot -- salt for flavor, and lemon juice to keep the green beans green -- not necassary though).
- Once the water comes to a boil, add olive oil and sesame oil to the stir-fry pan; heat on medium heat & add onions and pre-cooked bacon to stir-fry pan, and let cook until onions are translucent.
- While the onions begin to cook, place the green beans in boiling water.
- Let green beans cook for 3-4 minutes, then strain and rinse under cold water.
- Once onions become translucent, turn heat to high and add the green beans, sesame seeds and cashews/nuts (optional).
- cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add sauce to taste at this point (keep in mind, the sauce is rather strong).
- Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring every few seconds.
- Serve in large bowl.
- Garnish options: Additional sesame seeds, nuts, scallions, etc.
- ENJOY!
