Denise's Washington Apple Cake

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Beat first 6 ingredients and 1/2 cup sour cream in a large bowl with mixer until well blended.
  3. Stir in apples; pour into greased and floured 12 cup fluted tube pan or 10 inch tube pan.
  4. Bake one hour or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
  5. Cool in pan for 15 minutes; loosen cake from side of pan with knife.
  6. Invert cake onto wire rack; gently remove pan,.
  7. Cool cake completely.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar, remaining sour cream and water until well blended; drizzle over cake.
  9. Let stand until glaze is firm.
  10. Store in refrigerator.
