Herb Peel Away Bread Recipe

  1. Set aside 1 c. flour.
  2. Combine 2 1/2 c. flour, sugar, salt, yeast, cheese and herbs.
  3. Heat water and 4 Tbsp.
  4. butter till warm to touch (125-130 degrees); stir into dry mix.
  5. Stir in egg and only sufficient reserved flour to make soft dough.
  6. Knead till smooth and elastic, about 4 min on lightly floured surface.
  7. Cover; let rest 10 min.
  8. Roll into a 12 inch square.
  9. Brush with 2 Tbsp.
  10. melted butter.
  11. Cut into 25 squares.
  12. Overlap squares, butter side down, in greased 12 c. tube pan.
  13. Cover, let rise in a hot place till double in size, about 30 min.
  14. Bake 375 degrees, 20-25 min or possibly till done.
