Pizza Crust Thick And Zesty Recipe
- 2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon onion pwdr
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic pwdr
- 1 c. hot water
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In bowl, combine 1 c. flour, yeast, salt, oregano, onion pwdr rand garlic pwdr.
- Mix well.
- Add in water and shortening.
- Mix by hand till somewhat smooth.
- Gradually stir in remaining flour to make stiff dough.
- Let rest 15 min.
- With well floured or possibly greased fingers, press into 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking sheet, forming edge.
- Spread with pizza sauce and desired toppings.
- Bake for 25 to 30 min, till light golden and crisp on edges.
- To Freeze Thick Crust: Shape in pan, wrap and freeze or possibly assemble pizza (with sauce and topping) wrap and freeze.
- When ready to prepare, thaw and bake at 400 degrees as desired.
- Frzn crusts should be used within 2 weeks.
