Barbecued Chicken On A Bun Recipe
- 1 whole 4-pound chicken
- 1 1/4 c. ketchup
- 2 c. water
- 1 onion, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 teaspoon chili pwdr or possibly paste
- 1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 c. red wine vinegar
- 6 Kaiser rolls
- Place whole chicken in large kettle, cover with water, heat to boiling and simmer till chicken is cooked, about 1 hour.
- Remove chicken from pan, cold and shred meat from bones.
- In large saucepan, combine ketchup, water, onion, salt, celery seed, chili pwdr, brown sugar, Tabasco, Worcestershire and vinegar.
- Add in shredded chicken.
- Simmer chicken in sauce for 1 1/2 hrs.
- Serve hot on rolls.
- 6 servings.
