Spiced Spritz with Browned Butter Glaze

  1. Heat oven to 400F.
  2. Place 1 cup butter into bowl; beat at medium speed 30 seconds.
  3. Add sugar, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda and salt; continue beating, scraping bowl occasionally, until well mixed.
  4. Add egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla; beat until well mixed.
  5. Add flour; beat at low speed until well mixed.
  6. Place dough into cookie press fitted with desired template.
  7. Press cookies, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  8. Bake 5-8 minutes or until edges are set but not brown.
  9. Transfer to cooling racks; cool completely.
  10. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in 1-quart heavy saucepan over medium heat.
  11. Cook 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly and watching closely, until butter just begins to turn golden brown.
  12. Immediately remove from heat.
  13. Cool slightly.
  14. Combine browned butter and powdered sugar in bowl.
  15. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and enough milk for desired glazing consistency.
  16. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
