Herbed Beer Bread Recipe
- 3 c. self rising flour
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 12 ounce. beer, room temp.
- 1 tbsp. shortening
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 3 tbsp. cornmeal
- 3 tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp. butter
- In large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cheese and dry herbs.
- Mix well.
- Stir in beer to produce stiff batter.
- Grease loaf pan with shortening and sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Turn batter into pan.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 65 min.
- Brush baked loaf with softened butter; sprinkle with additional cornmeal.
- Turn out and cold on rack.
