New Potatoes and Pork with Rich Butter Soy Sauce
- 2 New potatoes
- 2 slice Pork roast or loin (for tonkatsu)
- 1 clove Garlic
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 2 tsp Soy sauce
- 2 tsp Mirin
- 1/4 tsp Salt (to pre-season the meat)
- Make small cuts in between the fat and meat of the pork slices.
- Sprinkle the pork with 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- Press the salt into the meat.
- Cut each slice of pork into 4-5 pieces.
- Wash the potatoes well, wrap in plastic wrap with the skins on, and microwave for about 3 minutes at 500w.
- When the potatoes have cooled down, cut into 1 cm slices with the skins on.
- Put butter in a pan (over low heat since butter burns easily!

- Add garlic.
- Cook over low heat until fragrant.
- Raise the heat to medium and add the pork.
- Brown for about 4 minutes on each side.
- Take the pork out and saute the potato slices in the same pan.
- Put the pork back in the pan and add 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of mirin, and mix.
- Serve!
