Libbie's Molasses Cookies

  1. Cream shortening and brown sugar together.
  2. Add egg.
  3. Add molasses.
  4. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger together; add to creamed mixture.
  5. Chill dough overnight.
  6. Roll in balls the size of a walnut.
  7. Roll on sugar.
  8. Place on pan; put 3 drops of water on each ball.
  9. Bake just until set, but not hard, at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
