Catherine Walter's Stuffed Cabbage

  1. Combine chuck, rice, egg, 1/4 cup raisins, and salt and pepper.
  2. Soften cabbage leaves in boiling water.
  3. Make rolls with filling.
  4. Fasten with toothpicks.
  5. Shred remaining cabbage and line pan with it.
  6. Place rolls on top.
  7. Combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, lemon juice, onion, brown sugar, and remaining 1/4 cup raisins.
  8. Pour over rolls and simmer for about 2 hours.
