Catherine Walter's Stuffed Cabbage
- 1 lb ground chuck
- 12 cup cooked rice
- 1 egg
- 12 cup white raisins
- salt and pepper
- 1 cabbage
- 2 cups canned tomatoes
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- juice 1 lemon
- 1 onion, chopped
- 14 cup brown sugar
- Combine chuck, rice, egg, 1/4 cup raisins, and salt and pepper.
- Soften cabbage leaves in boiling water.
- Make rolls with filling.
- Fasten with toothpicks.
- Shred remaining cabbage and line pan with it.
- Place rolls on top.
- Combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, lemon juice, onion, brown sugar, and remaining 1/4 cup raisins.
- Pour over rolls and simmer for about 2 hours.
