Granny'S Beef Stroganoff
- 2 lb. sirloin steak, cubed
- 2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms (can substitute canned)
- 1 c. finely chopped onions
- 1/4 c. butter
- 3 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- 4 c. cooked rice
- Saute mushrooms and onions in 3 tablespoons butter until brown.
- Remove mushrooms, etc.
- Add 1 tablespoon of butter to pan. Brown meat. Dissolve bouillon cubes in water; pour over meat. Add tomato paste, mustard and salt. Cover and simmer 45 minutes until tender. Combine flour and water.
- Slowly stir into meat mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil.
- Reduce heat. Add mushrooms, onions and sour cream.
- Heat, but don't boil. Serve over rice.
