Vickys Homemade Dry Soup Mix, Gluten, Dairy, Egg & Soy-Free, Gift Idea!
- 200 grams brown rice
- 110 grams green/yellow split peas
- 2 tbsp dried/dehydrated mixed vegetable flakes
- 2 tbsp dried/dehydrated onions
- 3 tsp chicken bouillon
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried marjoram
- 1/2 tsp lemon pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 bay leaf
- To give this soup jar as a gift, layer the rice & peas with the other ingredients in a jar and tie these instructions onto it with a pretty bow:
- Combine the contents of this jar with 1500 millilitres water and a 400g can of chopped tomatos in a pan and bring to the boil.
- Cover then reduce the heat and let simmer for an hour until the split peas are tender
- Stir in 250g cooked, chopped or shredded chicken and cook over a low heat to warm it through, 5 or so minutes.
- Discard the bay leaf, season to taste with salt and pepper and enjoy
- This dry mix can be stored happily in a cupboard until required
