Valentine Strawberry Pie

  1. Roll half the pastry into thin circle (less than 1/8 inch) on lightly floured surface.
  2. Line 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Trim pastry 1 inch larger than plate; fold under to form standing rim.
  4. Flute edge.
  5. Prick pastry thoroughly with fork.
  6. Bake at 450F for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  7. Cool.
  8. Meanwhile, roll remaining pastry very thin and cut into hearts using cookie cutter or paper pattern.
  9. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  10. Mix egg and water; brush over pastry hearts and sprinkle with sugar.
  11. Bake at 425F for 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
  12. Cool.
  13. Mix gelatin and pie filling mix in saucepan.
  14. Stir in water.
  15. Cook and stir on high heat until mixture comes to boil.
  16. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes.
  17. Arrange strawberries, cut-side down, in pie shell.
  18. Pour gelatin mixture over berries.
  19. Refrigerate 3 to 4 hours or until set.
  20. Arrange pastry hearts on pie filling.
