Curried Turkey Burgers With Apple Chutney
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 cup Onions, Diced
- 1 cup Red Bell Pepper, Diced
- 2 teaspoons Fresh Ginger Root, Minced
- 1/2 teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Black Pepper
- 1 clove Garlic, Minced
- 1 Tablespoon Sweet Curry Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Reduced Sodium Soy Sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Chopped Fresh Parsley
- 1 pound Lean Ground Turkey
- 4 whole Hamburger Buns
- 4 leaves Lettuce
- Chives, For Garnish (optional)
- 2 teaspoons Olive Oil
- 1 whole Granny Smith Apple, Peeled, Cored And Diced
- 1/2 cups Onions, Diced
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Ginger Root, Minced
- 1 pinch Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/4 teaspoons Kosher Salt
- 18 teaspoons Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Sweet Curry Powder
- 1/2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
- Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat.
- Add onions, bell pepper and ginger.
- Season with crushed red pepper flakes, and a bit of the salt and pepper.
- Saute until onions are softened and translucent, 5-6 minutes.
- Add the garlic and saute for another minute or two.
- Remove pan from heat and stir in curry powder, soy sauce and parsley.
- Let cool for a few minutes.
- Place ground turkey in a large bowl.
- Season with the remaining salt and pepper and add the vegetables mixture.
- Combine well but dont over mix.
- Divide mixture into four equal patties.
- Grill or pan fry in a little olive oil until cooked through.
- I pan fried mine in olive oil over medium heat for 6 minutes per side.
- To serve: Place lettuce on lower bun half.
- Place burger on top of lettuce and then spoon the apple chutney on top (recipe follows) Garnish with chives (optional)
- Apple Chutney:
- In a medium non-stick skillet heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add apples, onions and ginger and season with red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
- Saute until onions and apples have softened a bit and then add the curry powder and brown sugar.
- Continue to cook until apples are completely soft.
- Remove pan from heat and stir in the lemon juice.
