Colonel Sanders Hotwater Pie Crust
- 1 14 lbs pure lard
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup hot water
- Mix the dry ingredients.
- Barely melt the lard.
- Add the hot water to lard and then pour it into bowl with the dry ingredients.
- Mix with a spoon until all the flour is saturated, then when cool enough, work it by hand until thoroughly mixed, working in additional flour as needed.
- Roll dough on floured surface until 1/8-1/4 inch thick.
- Place into tin pie plate.
- Trim dough around edges.
- Flute edges.
- Pie shells may be frozen, sealed in a plastic bag until ready to use.
- Follow baking directions for your favorite pie recipes.
