Black Bottom Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 275u0b0.
  2. Mix crushed chocolate wafers and margarine.
  3. Press into a 10-inch pan; bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Cool. Make custard of egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar, flour and milk.
  5. Cook in double boiler until thick.
  6. Melt chocolate.
  7. Add 1 1/2 cups custard and 1 teaspoon vanilla; spread over chocolate crust.
  8. Add gelatin, dissolved in cool water, to remaining warm custard.
  9. Beat egg whites.
  10. Add 1/2 cup sugar and cream of tartar.
  11. Fold whites into custard.
  12. Add the sherry.
  13. Spread over black bottom.
  14. Chill. Top with whipped cream and grated chocolate.
