Italian Meat Pie
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 lb. Italian sausage
- 3/4 c. oats
- 1/2 c. tomato sauce
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped spinach, cooked and well drained
- 2 cans (16 oz. each) baby tomatoes, drained and sliced
- 12 oz. Mozzarella cheese, sliced or grated
- Combine meats, oats, tomato sauce, egg, spices and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
- Pack mixture onto bottom and halfway up sides of an ungreased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
- Bake 25 minutes at 350u0b0. Drain off excess fat.
- Top meat mixture with spinach.
- Arrange tomato slices over spinach.
- Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Top with Mozzarella cheese.
- Bake 15 minutes longer at 350u0b0 until cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
- Serves 8.
- This dish freezes well for advance preparation.
