carne guesada (meat and brown gravey)
- 1/4 cup veg. oil
- 2 tbsp cumino
- 2 tbsp ground garlic powder
- 1 tbsp salt optional
- 3/4 cup all purpose flower
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 3 cup hot water
- medium heat in a large skillet
- add veg.
- oil then brown the diced round steak till brown.
- next sprinkle flower over meat and darken flower.
- careful not to burn
- once flower and meat are brown, add tomato sauce and water stirring slowly
- next add chopped onion,cumino and garlic powder
- salt is optional to taste.
- next cover skillet on medium heat for 15 minutes stirring every 5 minutes till gravy starts to thicken.
- once gravy thickens simmer on med.
- low for 10 minutes uncovered to evaporate excessive water as needed.
- next serve with long grain Spanish rice with side of pinto beans.
- u must tweek the spices to ur personal tastes.
