Cheesy Pasta & Tomatoes
- 6 ounces (2 1/2 cups) uncooked dried fusilli (corkscrew) pasta
- 2 tablespoons Land O Lakes Butter
- 2 cups thinly sliced onion
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 pound sliced Land O Lakes Deli American, cut into quarters
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- Cook pasta according to package directions; drain.
- Set aside; keep warm.
- Melt butter in deep 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until sizzling; add onion and sugar.
- Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, 1 minute.
- Reduce heat to medium; cook 15-16 minutes or until onions are browned and caramelized.
- Stir in milk and cheese.
- Cook, stirring constantly, 3-4 minutes or until cheese is melted and mixture is creamy.
- Add cooked pasta; mix well.
- Continue cooking 1-2 minutes or until heated through.
- Combine all topping ingredients in bowl.
- Spoon topping over pasta and cheese mixture; serve immediately.
