Ham and Bean Soup

  1. Soak 1lb bag of navy beans in water for 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. Drain off dirty water.
  3. Put soaked beans into a large pot of water along with the ham shank.
  4. Boil on medium/low for about 3-4 hours.
  5. Stirring occasionally and adding water in as needed to keep covered.
  6. Remove ham shank and shred meat from bone.
  7. Removing fat from meat.
  8. Place back into pan with beans.
  9. Cook liquid down until its a nice soup consistency.
