Veal Osso Bucco
- 4 veal shanks
- 12 cup plain flour
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 3 celery ribs, sliced
- 12 leek, sliced
- 3 mushrooms, sliced
- 6 tomatoes, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 -3 cups homemade vegetable stock
- parsley, chopped
- toss the shanks in the flour and brown them in a pan on both sides (use a little olive oil).
- combine all the other ingredients into a large casserole dish.
- push the shanks into the combined mixture, ensuring it is covered with liquid.
- salt and pepper to taste.
- bake in a medium oven (150 C) for 3 hours.
- serve with potato or risotto and some green beans.
- you can add your favourite herb - I love rosemary with this dish.
