Pastel Cake

  1. Prepare cake mix as directed on package.
  2. Divide batter between 2 bowls.
  3. Add dry lime gelatin mix to one bowl and dry lemon gelatin mix to other bowl; mix well.
  4. Pour into separate wax paper-lined greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.
  5. Bake at 350F for 28 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean.
  6. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pans.
  7. Cool completely on wire racks.
  8. Place lime cake layer on serving plate; spread top with 1/2 tub of the whipped topping.
  9. Top with lemon cake layer.
  10. Frost top and side of cake with remaining whipped topping.
  11. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
