Budget: Homemade Chicken Stock Recipe

  1. In large saucepan, combine 12 c. cool water, chicken, onion, cloves, parsley, celery, carrot, thyme and bay leaf; bring to boil.
  2. Skim foam from top.
  3. Reduce heat; simmer for 1-1/2 hrs.
  4. Strain through sieve, discarding vegetables and chicken bones.
  5. Chill for 8 hrs.
  6. Remove and throw away chicken fat from surface.
  7. 8 1/2 c. for $3.37 CDN Mar/95
