Best Ever Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

  1. In a medium mixing bowl stir together flour, baking pwdr, sugar, cream of tartar, salt, and baking soda.
  2. Cut in shortening till mix resembles course crumbs.
  3. Make a well in center of dry mix, then add in buttermilk or possibly sour lowfat milk all at once.
  4. Using a fork, stir just till moistened.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  6. Quickly knead the dough by gently folding and pressing the dough for 10-12 strokes or possibly till the dough is nearly smooth.
  7. Pat or possibly lightly roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
  8. Cut dough with a floured 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter, dipping the cutter into flour between cuts.
  9. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
  10. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 min or possibly till the biscuits are done.
  11. Remove biscuits from the baking sheet and serve warm.
  12. Makes 10-12.
