Basil and Goat Cheese Pizza

  1. Set out pizza dough to bring to room temperature and allow to rise before preparing pizza.
  2. (I usually do this at least a few hours in advance because it makes the dough much easier to work with.)
  3. Place a pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 500 degrees F. Remove stone from the oven after 15-20 minutes.
  4. Roll out dough and place on top of the hot stone for pizza assembly (this allows the bottom of the crust to cook a little bit while you are making the pizza.
  5. Otherwise, the bottom crust doesnt cook as fast as the top does.)
  6. Spread tomatoes out over dough, then layer basil on top.
  7. Mozzarella should be put on top of the basil to keep it from burning.
  8. Last, sprinkle goat cheese crumbles on top to taste.
  9. Bake for 5 minutes, then rotate pizza and bake another 5 minutes.
  10. Remove pizza from oven and brush the outer crust with garlic butter.
  11. Bake another 1 minute, or until golden brown.
