Drop Sugar Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and cardamom or nutmeg and set aside.
  3. In a bowl beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, milk, and vanilla.
  5. Stir in the flour mixture just until blended.
  6. Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto 2 lightly greased baking sheets.
  7. Flattenslightly with a fork.
  8. Decorate with sprinkles, if desired.
  9. Bake 12 to 15 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
  10. Cool on a wire rack.
  11. The cookies freeze in an airtight container.
