Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dogs aka Fancy Dogs
- 12 ounces, weight All Beef Hot Dogs
- 4 ounces, weight Cheddar Cheese, Thinly Sliced In Strips
- 8 slices Applewood Bacon, Thick Cut
- 4 Tablespoons Butter
- 8 Toothpicks
- 8 whole Wheat Hot Dog Buns
- 8 teaspoons Butter, Or As Desired For Buttering Buns
- Toppings: Your Favorite Slaw, Ketchup, Mustard, Onions, Sauerkraut, Relish
- Preheat your gill to medium heat.
- Slice your hot dogs lengthwise down the center, but do not cut through the bottom.
- Press cheese strips into the sliced opening of the hot dogs.
- Wrap each with a piece of thick cut bacon.
- Use a half of a toothpick at the start and end of the bacon to hold bacon in place during grilling.
- Grill hot dogs over medium heat until bacon is cooked through, and cheese is melted.
- Remove from grill and set aside.
- Butter the cut side of the hot dogs buns.
- Place buns on the hot grates until nicely toasted.
- Serve hot dogs on the toasted buns with your choice of toppings.
