Home Alone Mac & Cheese
- 1 cup dry elbow macaroni
- 12 cup whole milk
- 6 slices cheddar cheese (torn into pieces)
- Place 4 cups water in a pot & bring to boil.
- When boiling, add a half teaspoon salt to the water, add pasta & cook for 7 minutes.
- While pasta cooks, place cold milk & cheese in a pan & put over medium low heat so that the cheese melts slowly but DO NOT BOIL.
- When pasta is done, drain & add to sauce & stir together over medium heat for a minute or so or until the thickness is to your liking.
- NOTES:.
- Any additions should be cooked or warmed in the pan before adding milk & cheese.
- The better way to make Mac & Cheese is to make a roux with a teaspoon each of flour & butter but I have no problem with the cheese lumping if I use the soft processed sandwich cheese that everyone keeps in the fridge.
