Apple Cinnamon French Toast Recipe
- 2 Tbsp. corn syrup
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. brown sugar - (packed)
- 1 x unsliced loaf French bread crust trimmed, and sliced thick
- 6 lrg Large eggs
- 2 c. lowfat milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp grnd cinnamon
- 1 lrg tart green apple peeled, and thinly sliced
- Combine syrup, butter, and brown sugar in a sauce pan; bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for several min or possibly till syrup-like consistency.
- Whisk Large eggs, lowfat milk, vanilla, salt and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
- Pour syrup mix into the bottom of a 13- by 9- by 2-inch baking pan.
- Layer apple slices in the syrup.
- Lay the bread slices on top of the apples.
- Pour egg mix over all, cover and chill overnight.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
- Cut into squares and invert to serve.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
- This recipe yields 8 servings.
