Deep-Fried Tofu in Sauce with Atsuage
- 2 Atsuage (10 x 10 cm)
- 1 dash Vegetable oil (for cooking)
- 1 Grated daikon radish
- 1 Green onions (chopped)
- 100 ml Water
- 2 tbsp Mentsuyu (3x concentrate)
- 2 1/2 tbsp Mirin
- 1/4 tsp Dashi stock granules
- (Make the sauce) Put all of the sauce ingredients into a heat-resistant container and microwave for 1.5 minutes at 600 W.
- You could also put the ingredients into a pot and bring to a boil.
- Cut the atsuage into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat the frying pan and then add the vegetable oil.
- Put in the atsuage and fry both sides.
- (if you cover with a lid, they'll plump up).
- Place the atsuage from Step 4 onto a dish and top with the well-strained grated daikon radish.
- Then pour on the sauce from Step 1 and garnish with green onions.
