Brown Sugar Carrots

  1. Gather your ingredients.
  2. Slice carrots if desired, or you may leave them whole.
  3. Place carrots into a medium sized saucepan.
  4. Add enough water to steam.
  5. You only need a few tablespoons.
  6. I added enough to cover the bottom of the pan but not the carrots entirely.
  7. Cover and steam over medium heat about ten minutes or until carrots are soft but not mushy.
  8. We still want a little bite.
  9. Uncover and drain any remaining water.
  10. Place back onto burner and add the butter, brown sugar, minced onion, salt, and pepper.
  11. Increase heat to medium-high.
  12. Cook, stirring frequently, until sauce begins to caramelize and carrots begin to brown.
  13. (About 7 minutes.)
  14. When they are almost done, add a dash of onion powder and mix well.
