Grilled Cola-Q Chicken

  1. Heat barbecue for indirect grilling: Light one side of barbecue, leaving other side unlit.
  2. Close lid; heat barbecue to 350 degrees F.
  3. Cook cola and barbecue sauce in saucepan on medium heat 10 min., stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat; stir in hot sauce.
  5. Reserve 3/4 cup sauce to serve with the grilled chicken.
  6. Cut out back bone of chicken carefully with kitchen shears or sharp knife.
  7. Place chicken, skin-side up, on work surface; press firmly onto chicken to flatten.
  8. Place chicken, breast-side down, on barbecue grate over lit area.
  9. Grill 15 min.
  10. ; turn and place over unlit area.
  11. Cover; grill 25 to 30 min.
  12. or until chicken is done (170 degrees F), turning occasionally and brushing with remaining barbecue mixture for the last 15 min.
  13. Remove from barbecue.
  14. Let stand 15 min.
  15. before cutting into pieces.
  16. Serve with reserved sauce.
