Baby Hot Browns Recipe
- 24 slc pumpernickel party rye bread
- 3 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine
- 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese - (2 ounce)
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 1 1/2 c. diced cooked turkey
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp grnd red pepper
- 1/2 c. freshly-grated Parmesan cheese
- 6 x bacon slices cooked, crumbled
- Arrange bread slices on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 500 degrees for 3 to 4 min.
- Heat butter in a saucepan over low heat; add in flour, and cook, whisking constantly, till smooth.
- Add in Cheddar cheese, whisking till cheese melts.
- Gradually whisk in lowfat milk; cook over medium heat, whisking constantly,till mix is thickened and bubbly.
- Stir in turkey, salt, and pepper.
- Chill,if you like.
- Top bread slices proportionately with hot cheese mix.
- Sprinkle proportionately with Parmesan cheese and bacon.
- Bake at 500 degrees for 2 min or possibly till Parmesan is melted.
- This recipe yields 2 dozen.
- Yield: 2 dozen
