Black Eyed Peas & Ham
- 2 lb ham
- 2 quart chicken stock
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp red pepper flake
- 1 tsp favorite seasoning
- 2 3/4 lb frozen black eye peas
- Shred or chop some spiral cut ham and add to the slow cooker.
- I used hickory smoked ham for this recipe.
- Add black eye peas on top of the ham.
- I like to rinse mine to remove any twigs that can sometimes be in the black eye peas.
- Frozen blackeye peas are what I used.
- Dried black eye peas could be used with a soaking period.
- Add one teaspoon of your favorite seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flake.
- Add chicken stock until black eye peas are just covered.
- Mix everything together.
- Cook on high heat in the slow cooker for 6 hours.
- Or until desired doneness.
- 12+ hours on low heat.
