Black Eyed Peas & Ham

  1. Shred or chop some spiral cut ham and add to the slow cooker.
  2. I used hickory smoked ham for this recipe.
  3. Add black eye peas on top of the ham.
  4. I like to rinse mine to remove any twigs that can sometimes be in the black eye peas.
  5. Frozen blackeye peas are what I used.
  6. Dried black eye peas could be used with a soaking period.
  7. Add one teaspoon of your favorite seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flake.
  8. Add chicken stock until black eye peas are just covered.
  9. Mix everything together.
  10. Cook on high heat in the slow cooker for 6 hours.
  11. Or until desired doneness.
  12. 12+ hours on low heat.
