Applesauce Recipe Sandsquish
- 3 apples
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
- 2 teaspoons apple brandy, optional
- Peel, core and coarsely chop the apples.
- Combine the chopped apples, sugar and pumpkin pie spice in a 6-cup glass bowl.
- Stir to mix.
- Cover with plastic wrap and set in a microwave oven.
- Cook with 650 watts for 5 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, uncover and stir in butter and optional brandy.
- Recover and cook until fruit is completely soft, about 3 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, uncover and mash mixture with a potato masher.
- Let cool to room temperature, then chill.
- Serve with roast pork or pork chops, or with cookies for dessert.
