Homemade Hawaiian Smoked Sausage Pizza

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Place olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat.
  3. Add onions and cook, stirring often until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. Roll pizza dough out into desired shape.
  6. I used my 2 largest cast iron skillets.
  7. Rimmed baking sheets work well too.
  8. Place pizza dough into skillet or onto baking sheet.
  9. Spread 1/2 cup of marinara sauce over one pizza dough.
  10. Top with half of the smoked sausage, half of the caramelized onions, half of the peppers and 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese.
  11. Top with 3/4 cup pineapple and 2 tablespoons of cilantro.
  12. Repeat with the other section of dough and the remaining ingredients.
  13. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until crust is browned and cheese is bubbly.
  14. (If crust is browning too quickly, turn oven down to about 400-425 degrees F.) Remove from oven and allow to cool 10 minutes before serving.
  15. Enjoy!
