Greg Allens Famous Cannolis

  1. Cook and stir sausage (or hamburger) until light brown; drain.
  2. * To make dough:
  3. Dissolved yeast in warm water.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon salt, vegetable oil and flour; beat vigorously 20 strokes.
  5. Let rest about 5 minutes.
  6. Mix tomato sauce, oregano, 1 1/4 teaspoon salt, garlic, pepper, chili powder, and sweet basil; heat to boiling.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer.
  8. Divide dough into halves or thirds.
  9. Roll into a circle with a rolling pin.
  10. Place equal portions or meat, onion, green pepper, chile pepper and mozzarella in the center of the dough in a strip.
  11. Spoon 2-3 Tablespoons of sauce on top of the meat mixture.
  12. Fold dough over and press shut.
  13. Place on a lightly-greased cookie sheet and cook in oven at 425 degrees until dough is light-brown, about 20-25 minutes.
