Very Tasty Sugar Cookies Recipe

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking pwdr, salt, and sugar; mix together.
  2. Add in butter, vanilla, and egg.
  3. Mix thoroughly till well blended.
  4. I do all of this in my food processor.
  5. It will roll right into a ball.
  6. Shape in a ball and wrap in plastic and chill at least 2 hrs.
  7. Divide dough in thirds.
  8. For cut out cookie, roll a third at a time on lightly floured surface to 3/16 inch thickness.
  9. Cut into desired shapes.
  10. Bake 8 min till edges are lightly browned in 375 degree oven.
  11. Store air-tight.
  12. Yields: 60 (2 1/2 inch) cookies.
  13. Variation:
  14. Chocolate Pinwheel Cookies: Add in 1 (1 oz) envelope premelted unsweetened baking chocolate to half the dough.
  15. Roll out into rectangle about 9 x 12 inches on floured wax paper.
  16. Do same with remaining dough.
  17. Invert plain dough on top of chocolate and peel off paper.
  18. Roll doughs up lengthwise, jelly roll fashion.
  19. Cut in 1/2 and roll each half in wax paper.
  20. Chill at least 2 hrs.
  21. Cut into 1/8 inch thick slices and bake.
