Cinnamon Pomanders

  1. Spray vegetable oil on mold or cookie cutter.
  2. Mix cinnamon, 1 cup applesauce and oil.
  3. Knead in more applesauce if needed, a little at a time, until mixture is very stiff "clay."
  4. (It should not be sticky.)
  5. For mold, spray lightly (remove any excess with paper towel).
  6. Dust cinnamon into mold and onto fingers and press a piece of "clay" into mold.
  7. Even out back of clay, then tap mold against cutting board or hand.
  8. Peel out clay; place on cookie sheet, then trim any rough edges with sharp knife.
  9. If a hole is needed, use a small straw to cut it.
  10. Bake 1 hour (until firm), then another hour on wire rack.
  11. Drying needs to be slow to prevent cracking.
  12. For cookie cutter, roll out and cut as you would cookies.
